✍A reflection on the use of ICT educational tools in teaching and Learning

 

ICT module is associated with various educational tools which act as a driving means for teaching and learning. Throughout the semester, I find almost all the part of our session cover-up the implementation of educational ICT tools in one way or other. Being as a teacher, we need to possess all those areas specifically in the field of utilization and integration of ICT so that we can teach any lessons in an effective, engaging and interactive way. Due to that, this particular module plays a very significant role in providing the best platform where we can nurture one’s own skills in digital resources so that we can prepare fully before starting a formal teaching. As an educator or the facilitators, we need to take an account of children’s learning preference and through my personal experience, the integration of ICT tools really boost my enthusiasm since it renders multiple ways to learn and explore instead of one particular technique.

So far, we have learnt so ICT tools like informative, constructive, co-constructive, communicative and situated tool that are so applicable in our daily life, and I hope all those are unavoidable. During our school days, I didn’t get the basic ideas and knowledge about ICT and due to that I have encountered many problems and challenges while reaching to the college. Through my personal experience, I have realized that all those skills including designing ppt, use of word docs and video editing opportunity has to be provided from our school days itself so that it will act as the foundation in their later days.

Personally, I find constructive tool especially in creating and designing PowerPoint presentation (ppt) as most prominent tools since it automatically touches or utilize other tools like communicative, informative and situated tools. We know that, while designing ppt, it uses the technology to create various designs, insert audio, visual effects, graphics and also incorporate animations which involve so many creativities and skills. So, in future, if we are able to design a lesson plan using ppt by incorporating all those elements will actually help cater the information in an effective way to diverse learners as per their interest. Being a primary teacher, it’s very important to be creative to impart the lesson in an interesting way so that students can learn better and grasp the concept easily. Just traditional method of lecturing will enable the students to lose their motivation towards learning and after knowing his, we need to take an account of all these perspectives and as a modern teacher, we need to work towards making the leaning more flexible through the implication of ICT knowledge.

On other hand, I find creating and maintaining blog as the most beneficial tool and it plays a very significant role for both the teachers and the students and due to that we need to allow Bhutanese students to implement.Usually,blogging allows the students to share their knowledge, experiences with a wide audience. By writing about various topics, students can contribute to the collaborative knowledge base and help others who may be seeking information or solutions to technical problems.Moreover, I find through the process of blogging as an excellent platform for us to create an individual portfolio of our work including our experiences and achievements.

Afterall, I feel satisfied with all the lessons, skills and the knowledge I have gained so far from this particular module, and I feel that all those informational ICT tools are the end product where we can implement personally. Moreover, it sparks my mind to use efficiently with my students if I happen to get an opportunity to teach in future. Due to that, if we think critically, ICT really boost our skills in exploring abundant knowledge beyond the confined content area and we need to further extend our interest and impart our knowledge to our students. Bhutanese curriculum has to strictly emphasize more on letting students to learn their best so can be the digital advanced citizens.
